Laurence Tubiana

Laurence Tubiana is the President and Executive Director of the European Climate Foundation (ECF) and a professor at Sciences Po and the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris. She previously chaired the board of the French Development Agency (AFD) as well as the board of Expertise France. Before joining the ECF, Laurence Tubiana served as Ambassador for Climate Change Negotiations and Special Representative for COP 21, making her one of the key architects of the Paris Agreement. Following COP21 and during COP22, she was appointed UN High-Level Climate Champion.

Laurence Tubiana has extensive experience and expertise in the fields of climate change, energy, agriculture, and sustainable development, having worked with governments, institutions, think tanks, and NGOs. From 1997 to 2002, she was Senior Advisor for the Environment to Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. Between 2009 and 2010, she created and led the Department of Global Public Goods at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE). In 2013, she chaired the National Council for the Energy Transition Debate.

In 2002, she founded and led the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) until 2014. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, she founded and led Solagral, an NGO specializing in food security and environmental protection. She began her career as a Research Director at the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA).

Laurence Tubiana has also held several academic positions, including at Sciences Po and as a professor of International Relations at Columbia University in New York. She is a member of numerous boards and scientific committees, including the Chinese Committee for Environment and International Development (CCICED).
